Our Governance

As you consider investing your heart, time, family, and finances into the life of a church, it is important for you to feel confident in its leadership. At Journey Church, we are committed to operating with integrity, accountability, and spiritual authority. Our church government is structured to reflect these values through a multi-tiered system of leadership and oversight.

 

GUIDED BY PASTORS

The Pastor Team, led by Pastor Alex Rivera, oversees the day-to-day ministry and operations of Journey Church. This team is composed of both pastoral staff and trusted lay pastors from the congregation. They are responsible for fostering the spiritual development of our church family and ensuring that ministry efforts align with our mission and values.

Additionally, this team plays a critical role in keeping the church aligned with Scripture, taking the lead in protecting and preserving the doctrine of Journey Church. Their leadership ensures that all teaching, discipleship, and ministry practices remain biblically grounded and consistent with our Statement of Faith.

 

STRENGTHENED BY OVERSEERS

The Overseers are seasoned pastors from respected churches and ministries who have a love for Journey Church. They serve as Apostolic Elders, providing spiritual protection and counsel to the church. Importantly, they may be called upon to assist in matters of accountability regarding the Lead Pastor, as requested by the Pastors & Board of Directors.

 

Current Overseers:

  • Pastor Joseph Hunt – Compass North Church, Akron, OH

  • Pastor Wilbur Phillips – 1st Baptist Church, Delair, NJ

  • Pastor Jose Jimenez – Legacy Church, Lancaster, PA

  • Dr. Phil Brassfield – Destiny Leaders Ministry Network

 

SUPPORTED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Board of Directors plays a vital role in the financial leadership of Journey Church. Their responsibilities include:​

  • Approving the annual budget

  • Authorizing major financial decisions, including property and asset purchases

  • Helping shape and steward financial policies that reflect our mission

​

The Board is made up of members of the Pastor Team and faithful lay leaders from within our congregation. They serve to ensure that Journey Church manages its resources with wisdom, transparency, and integrity.

This structure is designed to help us stay aligned with our mission: to love God, love people, and make disciples while fostering trust and accountability among our leaders and congregation.

This intentional structure of pastoral guidance, spiritual oversight, and accountability ensures that Journey Church remains a place where people can grow in faith, serve with purpose, and trust the leadership stewarding both the spiritual and practical life of the church.
